Nigel is a Chartered Architect with additional qualifications in Building Conservation and Business Management. He first moved to Taunton nearly forty years ago and has run his own architectural practice in the town for over thirty years.
He has worked throughout the area and greater south west, on a broad range of commissions which have included cultural and community based projects, as well as commercial and domestic properties, with a particular emphasis on works to listed and historic buildings. Nigel has received Design Commendations and Conservation Awards for works to listed buildings, and for works within conservation areas, and examples of his work have been used within Rural Building Conversion Guidance, and Residential Design Guides.
Nigel is a strong advocate of the arts and his client base has included the Brewhouse Theatre, The Taunton Thespians and Bridgwater Operatic Society.
He has always taken a keen interest in local issues, and over the years he has worked in a voluntary capacity for a variety of organisations, which include:
• Current Member of the Executive Committee and past President of the Taunton Chamber of Commerce
• Current President and past Trustee of SANHS (Somerset Archaeological and Natural History Society) and current Chair of the Historic Buildings Committee.
• Current Member of the Taunton Garden Town Delivery Board – representing the Taunton Chamber of Commerce
• Past Member of the Taunton Deane Advisory Board – representing the Taunton Chamber of Commerce
• Past Board Member of the Somerset Chamber of Commerce - (representing Taunton)
