Mary-Jess

Whilst studying Western Classical Music and Mandarin Chinese in China, Mary-Jess won the Chinese version of ‘The X Factor’, a TV singing contest with a live viewing audience of over 70 million people. Shortly after, she signed a record contract with Universal and released her debut album ‘Shine’ with Decca Records, which won numerous awards.

Mary-Jess was chosen to be the voice of ‘Downton Abbey’, singing the lyric version of the theme song for the Official Soundtrack albums to accompany the TV show.

She has featured on 20 albums as a songwriter and a recording artist, recorded vocals for Marvel Soundtracks, sung to Royalty and has shared the stage with Sir Tim Rice, Don Black, Steve Winwood, Robert Plant and many others.

Mary-Jess was asked to sing ‘Abide With Me’ at the FA Cup Final in front of a live audience of 90,000 people and a worldwide TV audience of 300 million people.

She is the first British female to be accepted into Lord Wei’s Diaspora Emerging Leadership Programme in The House of Lords, and after performing at The GREAT Festival of Creativity in Shanghai, Mary-Jess was invited to Number 10 Downing Street where she was asked by His Majesty’s Government to represent UK music as an ambassador for The GREAT Britain Campaign in 144 countries around the world.

Mary-Jess Sings to 100,000 in 2022

Mary-Jess was once again invited back to Taiwan to sing for over 100,000 people and 2.3 million on TV for ‘Tainan Young December’ events across Tainan. She was invited by the Taiwanese Government and the Mayor of Tainan, whom she sang with at the big Christmas Eve Celebrations before singing for his inauguration on Christmas Day. Martin Hurkens, the winner of Holland’s Got Talent, also joined Mary-Jess on stage for her performances.
